Marineland Historian Available for Public Speaking Engagements

As Marineland moves toward the future as a leader in animal care, training, conservation, and education, we are very aware of the shoulders on which we stand. Pioneers in the biological sciences founded Marine Studios in 1938 and it is their success, their dedication, and their passion which brought us to where we are today. From pride in our history comes an enthusiastic desire to share it with our community. Marineland's archivist and historian is available to speak at your social gathering, club, service organization, or business meeting to share Marineland's story: Past, Present, and Future. With such a long and fascinating history, presentations can focus on any number of topics including science and history, celebrities and film, or animal care and training.

Please call 904-417- 2560 to schedule a speaker for your event. Donations toward the Marineland Dolphin Adventure Education fund are gratefully accepted.

Marineland Welcomes a New Dolphin Calf!

It was with great pleasure on Thursday, May 22, that we welcomed Marineland Dolphin Adventure’s newest calf to the family! Dazzle, one of Marineland’s beloved resident Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, successfully gave birth to a female calf. Both mom and calf are doing well and Marineland animal care and training teams will continue to monitor the pair in the coming months.

We couldn’t be happier to share this exciting news with you, our fans! The next few months are a critical time of development for the calf and we will continue to keep you updated. Dazzle and the calf are currently bonding in a semi-private habitat and may not be visible to public.

Stay tuned in to Marineland's social media pages and blog for the latest upates. To be among the first to receive announcements about the calf and other information, sign up for Marineland’s e-newsletters here.

"Vegetable Oil Powered Eco-Explorer Boat Tours"

Raising the standard for ethical and sustainable ecotourism, Ripple Effect Ecotours, now offers an outdoor classroom experience in our new boat, the "Ripple Effect 1". This very capable vessel exceeds all expectations of what type of vessel can be used to traverse the very sensitive and productive coastal habitats here in Northeast Florida. Powered by an engine that actually runs on recycled vegetable oil collected from restaurants, the "Ripple Effect 1" utilizes a sustainable, renewable, and recycled fuel source that dramatically reduces our carbon footprint. And, yes, the exhaust smells like french fries so don't come hungry! Sensitive habits frequented by marine mammals require extra care to be taken by ecotour boat operators and the "Ripple Effect 1" utilizes water-jet propulsion and with no exposed propeller providing the ultimate in safety for both our guests and the very healthy population of marine mammals that thrive here! Join Ripple Effect Ecotours for an incredible experience with our USCG captains and Florida Master Naturalist Instructors on this unique eco-educational exploration. The Cost is $50 for adults and $40 for kids 15 and under includes free passes to the Marineland Dolphin Adventure where the educational experience continues! Viva Florida 500

Viva Florida 500 commemorates Florida's rich heritage and diverse cultural history through 2013, a significant milestone unlike any other in the history of the United States - the 500th anniversary of Juan Ponce de León's arrival on Florida's east coast. What makes this anniversary so unique is that Ponce de León's convoy of explorers was the first group of Europeans to document such a landing and give a name to Florida - La Florida. They were also the first recorded Europeans to explore any part of what's now the continental United States of America. The Florida Department of State and its many partners are planning enriching events and experiences across the state. Join us in celebrating the Florida we live in today! For more information and a calendar of events, visit http://www.visitflorida.com/viva.
